Having just finished a a chemistry degree at Oxford, I’m now really excited to finally have the time to get creative outside of the lab. It was always my intention to look at representing scientific concepts through art, in preparation for this I completed an art foundation course after my A-levels. The course was amazing, the best thing I’ve done so far. I based my final major project on the periodic table which, in my opinion, is a thing of beauty in its own right and something I hope to represent in the future as an installation.
I also love portraiture and I have just completed my first portrait in oil paint; I have certainly learned a lot and will definitely be using more oils in the future.
Biro sketches are a big thing with me as you can just sit in a cafe and capture the moment of the hustle and bustle. Photography is also an important part of my life and having recently moved to London, I can’t wait to explore the city and take lots of photos.
Some of my favourite artists include Cindy Sherman, Gillian Wearing, Rachel Whiteread, Giacometti, Picasso, Monet, Peter Doig, Simon Patterson, Mark Wallinger, Damien Hirst, Francis Bacon, Marcel Duchamp, Edward Hopper and many, many others! I’ll be sharing lots of my favourite artwork and information about new exhibitions on my blog page as well as posting updates about my own work.
